Pink Tea Productions:
I started Pink Tea Productions in the Spring of 2008 when I was painting with Watercolor and sipping a cup of Hibiscus tea. With Watercolor you have to paint quickly ... and I plunged my paintbrush into my teacup instead of the water cup and then across my Watercolor board before realizing what I'd done. From that fateful and humorous mistake an epiphany was born, along with a company. Family, friends, neighbors were the first to encourage this little budding business, and then galleries began taking interest in the hand-painted greeting cards. In 2018, the greeting card company, Card Gnome, came calling to license my card designs for printed greeting cards. There is also a line of miniature paintings that Pink Tea has added to the list.
Here on this website, and the Pink Tea Productions Etsy store, you can find the original hand-painted cards of Watercolor and Specialty Tea. There is quite a variety of subjects, and a variety of tea -- from Hibiscus, Pomegranate, SugarPlum, and Lavender, amongst many others. The expressive combination of Watercolor and certain types of tea is a delightful discovery that keeps the quest going.
About the Artist:
I have a writing and illustration background that has, at times, both complimented and hampered the fine art that I create. I've been working in Watercolor for about eighteen years, and Soft Pastel for a little less than that. I love the challenge of watercolor -- it's like driving three cars all at once, being mindful of so many different variables, and you only get one shot at it. As such, the entire history of your brushstrokes is there for all to see. I now marry the translucency of watercolor with Specialty Floral and Fruit tea, or the luminous and tactical qualities of Soft Pastel and have found the best of both worlds. I also work in oils occasionally when time -- and patience -- allows.
